My Chemical Romance To Reunite?
Posted by Life on the Scene in Celebrity, Concert, Music on July 20, 2016
Let’s face it folks, 2016 has been a supreme bitch so far. The Grim Reaper has been running rampant stealing away precious lives like David Bowie, Alan Rickman, The Eagles’ Glenn Frey and Prince among others. Violence and terrorism has circulated the globe non-stop from attacks on gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando to trucks crashing into Bastille Day crowds in Nice, France. That asshat orange-colored buffoon is being allowed to run for President of the United States.
Then, today, my cold, black, heart began rapidly beating a crimson color filled again with hope and joy after My Chemical Romance posted a 30-second cryptic video teaser on their newly revamped website at the same time their social media pages were updated with the new logo and video post. The video concludes with the date 9.23.16. New merchandise is available online and of course at Hot Topic. The new logo featuring a cross, MCR and the letter X, or Roman numeral ten were quickly interpreted as a sign of resurrection to celebrate the 10th anniversary of My Chemical Romance’s iconic 2006 album Welcome to the Black Parade.
The only other solid news that came out today from major news outlets is that the band will re-release the Black Parade along with some previously unreleased material. No other word on what else may be in store for this deeply missed band.
For those lucky enough to attend Comic Con in San Diego this week, I would bet you won’t get much more than a sheepish grin from Gerard Way as he signs for both Dark Horse and DC Comics on Friday, July 22nd. Here’s a little flashback to my time at Comic Con 2009 when I literally got stuck in a human traffic jam as security halted us to allow Hall H to empty out. When I turned around to see who else got stuck I found Gerard & Mikey standing behind me.

I count myself extremely lucky to be an Angeleno, because I know if shows do happen, they will happen in Los Angeles. Like the rest of you, I don’t know exactly what My Chemical Romance has in store for us for the last half of 2016 but my best guess would be some tour dates to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Welcome to the Black Parade. Will it be a one-off tour to honor this album? Will there be new music? Only time will tell but you can bet if Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Frank Iero and Ray Toro are reuniting for some shows, my happy ass will be camped out on the sidewalk!
Killjoys, make some noise!
Edit: An update after yesterday’s cryptic teaser video. Today, the band made the following statement on their Facebook page, “We’ve been really touched and blown away by the response to the teaser trailer. We are not touring and there is no reunion planned – only a release for the anniversary of The Black Parade.
Thanks so much for continuing to keep MCR in your minds and in your hearts.”
So, at this point killjoys, the only noise is the sound of hearts around the globe breaking again…
Downey & Duvall In The Judge
Posted by Life on the Scene in Movie Review on October 10, 2014
Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall star in The Judge, in theaters today! The plot goes like this:
A successful lawyer returns to his hometown for his mother’s funeral only to discover that his estranged father, the town’s judge, is suspected of murder. He sets out to discover the truth and along the way reconnects with the family he walked away from years before.
The movie also stars Vera Farmiga, Billy Bob Thornton, Vincent D’ Onofrio, Jeremy Strong, Dax Shepard and Leighton Meester.
I’ve read a mixed bag of reviews regarding this movie and I can’t wait to see it and form my own opinion. I’ve been amazed to hear long time Downey fans state that “once was enough”, critics digressing on about how it’s a long and meandering film (kind of like their reviews?) to people raving it’s one of their new favorite films.
This is the first movie from Robert and Susan Downey’s production company, Team Downey and it looks like an exciting risk for them to release a movie that will make you laugh, maybe cry and definitely sit back and think about your own family issues.
If you see The Judge this weekend, come back and let us know what you thought of it
Due Date With Robert Downey Jr. in Theaters November 5th
Posted by Life on the Scene in Movie Review, Press Releases on October 19, 2010
From director Todd Phillips (the Hangover) and Warner Bros. Pictures, comes Due Date, a hilarious new comedy starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis as two unlikely companions thrown together on a road trip that turns out to be as life-changing as it is outrageous.
Downey plays Peter Highman, an expectant first-time father whose wife’s due date is only days away. As he hurries to catch a flight home to Los Angeles from Atlanta to be at her side for the birth, his best intentions go completely awry when a chance encounter with aspiring actor and disaster-magnet Ethan Tremblay (Galifianakis) leads to the two of them being tossed off the plane and placed on a no-fly list.
With no alternatives in sight, Peter is forced to hitch a ride with Ethan and his French bulldog on what turns out to be a cross-country road trip that will destroy several cars, numerous friendships and Peter’s last nerve.
The comedy also stars Michelle Monaghan, Juliette Lewis and Academy Award® winner Jamie Foxx. The film will open on November 5, 2010. Early reviews and theater audience reaction to the trailer have been great. This movie looks to be another sure-fire hit for Downey.
